HOW DO YOU SELL YOUR HOME IF NO ONE CAN MAKE AN APPOINTMENT TO SEE IT?

I have been meaning to write a post about this for quite some time!  Today I scheduled several appointments to go out and view some homes this weekend and to my surprise in one of the listings not only was the contact information wrong to schedule the appointment, it gets better!  I called the listing agent on her cell phone and an automatic message comes on stating, "at the request of the owner of this phone, no incoming calls are currently being accepted."

ARE YOU KIDDING ME?

I wonder if the seller knows this?  But then again it was a discount brokers listing and just another example of you get what you pay for!!!  I think I'll use this one in my listing presentations.

Come on man, you should have developed your ESP powers by now or at least use the Force.  I cannot begin to tell you how many times a day that I have to use the choke hold or some other method of control.  Or, I simply think real hard about that person and they will call me.

enjoy your day and good luck, just think they are your competition and they are just making it easy for you

Michael, Probably a full time hairdresser part time real estate agent doing a diservice to the seller. There are plenty of homes on the market and this agent has already shown how rough it will be on the selling agent should anyone get the chance to show the property and sell it.

You both have very valid points on this one and I definitely agree with you both.  Dave you really made me laugh with your comments, THANKS!

I got that same message lately a few times from a lot of people's phones, maybe something going on w/ one of the cellular networks?

One could only hope that an agent doesn't use a pre-paid minute plan!

Just makes you wanna knock on the seller's door and say, "Call your agent right now.  Yup, uh huh.  That's the message I got when I called to TRY to show your house."

Michael, That is just crazy!  How do you get a home sold like that?? I guess you do get what you pay for!

It sounds like the Realtor will not be long for the business.  The seller may be wondering why there has been no activity.  Hard to believe that things like this happen.

You mean the agent ran over allotted minutes? That is bizarre. What? Is she / he 12? No, wait, 12 year olds can figure out monthly calling plans and choose those that fit their calling habits.

I would call the broker. Because the broker is ultimately responsible. If this agent is the broker, then I would call MLS because undoubtedly it is against most MLS regulations to misrepresent a home in MLS. And after you've exhausted those two efforts, which I would do in a minute Jack, I'd show up at the seller's door begging to please let me show the home to my buyers (which I have done in the past), letting the chips fall where they may. It's not my fault if other agents fall down on the job.

My favorite was the agent who couldn't return a phone call for the showing, because she is a school bus driver and couldn't hear the phone.  Unfortunately that listing was the one that my clients decided to make an offer on & it was like pulling teeth to get the bus driver to contact her sellers with our offer.  It finally happened but the list agent, was an hour late to the closing, no apologies to anyone.  Really ticked my buyers off.  As for me, I will do my best to not show any of her listings in the future.  But I am guessing the reason she is driving the bus is because she isn't putting what she should into Real Estate.

What a sad statement of affairs.  I can understand by appointment listings for the sick, or elderly.  But as a general rule, I think it is simply off-putting to potential buyers.  By appointment has also become synonymous for me with "The owners will be there watching you."  Buyers don't like that.

You get what you pay for!  The seller wants to pay less commssion, then they get less service.  It's too bad that some sellers just don't get it.  Then when is doesn't sell ---the seller thinks --- "All Realtors are the same!"

Sounds like a winning marketing program.

Extremely ridiculous!!  I can't believe some of the stories I see here on AR.  I am sure the seller has tried to call before and got the same message.  Unless, they have a "bat line" for those VIPs.
